McArdle Sport-Tec were selected to provide the main stadium’s athletics track at The XVII Commonwealth Games
The XVII Commonwealth Games was a world-class event and the most significant multi-sport event to be held in this country since the Olympics of 1948. It was the largest ever Commonwealth Games with athletes of the highest quality from 72 nations competing for Gold in 14 individual sports and 3 team sports. The Games involved more competitors from more Commonwealth nations than ever before.
The Games represented for McArdle Sport-Tec the culmination of more than twelve months work on the installation of the world-class athletic track in the main stadium.
Built in partnership with Laings, the main contractor to Manchester City Council, McArdle Sport-Tec were selected to provide the athletics track for the games because of their considerable knowledge and technical expertise.
McArdle Sport Tec offer a range of track systems for both international and regional level athletic competition designed to provide for high wear even when exposed to high or low temperatures, and manufactured from ecologically sound products.
We are able to provide systems to IAAF certification, such as the Commonwealth Games facility or an installation for a school or community at a more affordable price but always to the same exacting standards of installation.
