Artificial turf pitches for Rugby are very similar to those used for football utilising either fibrillating or monofilament yarns. Rugby surfaces generally have a pile length of 65mm and have to be installed over a separate shock pad to meet the Head Impact Criteria required for IRB regulation 22 and RFU accreditation. The original third generation artificial turfs utilised fibrillating yarns, however more recently harder wearing monofilament yarns have been produced. Monofilament yarns are often profiled to improve the long term performance of the artificial surface.
Rugby sports surfaces are specifically designed to meet the rigours and stress of competitive rugby training at the highest level. Our products provide you with opportunity to schedule continuous play throughout the year with consistent performance in all weather conditions. Our Rugby range delivers an extremely durable synthetic playing surface, which minimises burn or abrasion injuries and offers ball play characteristics of top-quality natural grass pitches.
“We were given the task of creating a 3G pitch to add to the training facilities of Bath Rugby Club here at Farleigh House. McArdle Sport Tec gave us a very competitive quotation and despite challenging terrain and weather conditions completed the job within the agreed time scale. Everyone agrees that the finished product looks superb! We were very impressed with the whole team ably led by David Darnell.”
The project was overseen by the specialist sports pitch consultants, STRI.
